A Portable Applicance Testing (PAT testing) is the only way and the best way to ensure your appliances are safe to use. In the UK, it a legal requirement to have you perform a Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) if you are a small business, hotel, retail, housing association or other commercial entity.
Dave Casey does carry out PAT testing for any type of unit (business, commercial, large and small building, hotel, restaurant, etc.). If you are a landlord, a business, a council or a commercial unit owner, you will need a PAT testing certificate to meet your legal obligation. If you have a PAT certificate, then you can demonstrate a duty of care to tenants, visitors, and employees.
There is another reason why you may want to consider performing a PAT test. And that reason is for insurance purposes. If anything goes wrong in your property, then you’ll have the appropriate documentation to prove you were on the right side of the law.
However, if you do not have this documentation, then insurance may not be providing you financial or legal support as you are against the law.
But the main reason why you want to have a PAT test is that you’ll want peace of mind, knowing you’ve taken every possible action to protect your properties, human and animal life.
A PAT test must be performed by qualified personnel. It involves a number of things such as a visual inspection of the appliance inside the property. But it also requires the inspection of the appliance’s plug and leads. There are more tests that require your attention such as for equipment with an earth conductor. You need specialised equipment to perform these PAT tests. For instance, they involve the injection of test signals into a cable and appliance to ensure their full integrity.
The below are the four points that are included in our PAT testing services:
